About

James Linden

My artistic practice is driven by an enduring fascination with the interplay of structure and space, in a pursuit of balance and harmony. True purity in art emerges when we strip away the familiar, when recognisable forms give way to the elemental language of geometry. In this realm, each line and angle is distilled to its essential essence, creating a visual dialogue that transcends conventional representation.

By deliberately arranging elements along three axes I am able to generate compositions that seem to open up into endless possibilities, with each perspective revealing new relationships between form, shadow, and texture. The three-dimensional play of light and shadow is a deliberate attempt to evoke a sense of realism, an invitation for the viewer to experience depth and presence in what might otherwise be seen as abstract constructs.

In essence, my work is an exploration of how minimal forms can express complex ideas. The absence of recognisable figures allows a space for the viewer's imagination to engage more deeply with the art. It is within this environment that I seek to uncover the beauty of balance, where each geometric element contributes to a harmonious whole.
